Last Friday, a small group loaded up their cars with buckets and buckets of coins collected from the St. Andrew School Penny Challenge. “The kids were so excited to have the Penny Challenge back to its usual event and were more competitive than ever. They kept asking, “Which class won?!” said teacher and OHU board member, Annie McGuire.
A dolly was used to help move all the coins to the local bank and then the group had to take a break in counting because the coin-counting machine had reached capacity with the volume of coins collected.
When all the coins and dollar bills were counted the total amount came to a whopping – $4747.14! The group was sworn to secrecy as the tally was finalized to determine the winning class which would be announced at the following week’s school pep rally. Stay tuned for the winning results.
