With determination and the right diagnostic tool, Nicholas has launched a successful mechanic business growing his book of regular customers at an auto repair shop in Kampala. After graduating from vocational college in 2020, Nicholas was helped by Jon Olstad, the team lead technician at Walser Polar Chevrolet, who helped to locate and provide a diagnostic computer and cables that give him an edge when repairing vehicles.
“It has helped me be successful and attract more repeat customers,” Nicholas said. “I’m grateful to Walser and Jon for giving me the diagnostic computer.” Nicholas also shares the tool with fellow mechanics, which has benefitted the whole repair operation.
When we visited Nicholas in June, he showed Mary Patronik, his long-time sponsor, how he uses the tool to analyze a vehicle’s performance and determine the appropriate repair needed. The combination of hard work and technology is helping to ensure Nicolas and others are on the road to continued success.
