An end-of-year breakfast celebration celebrated St. Andrew’s 8th Grade class, who raised the most funds of any grade for the Penny Challenge benefitting our scholars. Dressed in the t-shirts that represent their high school destination next year – we gathered over donuts and shared stories of Uganda students, who have benefitted directly from the students’ generosity.
Now that they’re on their way out – the students could confidently share their strategy for success, “We waited until the last two days of the collection before putting any coins in our jar so other classes would challenge each other – then on the last two days we brought in a ton of coins.” 8th grade teacher, Mrs. Rhonda Peterson, recalled students coming to school with rolls and rolls of coins to add to their collection.
We’re grateful and confident they’ll apply their strategic wits to ensure their success as they begin their new high school chapter next year. Good luck!
